Input sources

Every channel has one input — the place its video comes from. You choose it when you create the channel, and it decides how you start the stream.

Media file

Loops a video you have uploaded to Media. Good for 24/7 channels — the file plays continuously until you stop the stream.

This is the only input that can be scheduled to start on its own, because the video already lives on our servers.

Custom RTMP

You push from an encoder to our server, and we relay to every destination with your watermark and title applied.

  1. Create the channel with the Custom RTMP input and open it.

  2. Copy the two values from the channel's Overview:

    Server URL
    rtmp://streaming.rexstream.net/live
    Stream key
    your-channel-stream-key
  3. In OBS, open Settings → Stream and choose Custom... as the service. Paste the server URL into Server and the key into Stream Key.

  4. Press Start on the channel. It shows Waiting for encoder.

  5. Press Start Streaming in OBS. The broadcast begins automatically and the channel shows Live.

The channel waits 10 minutes

After you press Start, the channel stays armed for 10 minutes. If no encoder connects in that time it stops itself — just press Start again.

Matching your encoder to the channel

Set your encoder's resolution and bitrate to match the channel's quality preset. Sending more than the preset wastes your upload bandwidth — the server re-encodes to the preset regardless.

Regenerating a stream key

If a key leaks, open the channel menu and choose Regenerate stream key. The old key stops working immediately, so update your encoder before going live again. You cannot regenerate while the channel is live.

Only custom RTMP channels have a stream key — camera, screen share and media file channels do not need one.

Phone camera and webcam

Go live straight from the device camera — front or back on a phone. Start it with Go Live from the app, or the panel's Go Live window on desktop.

See going live from your camera.

Phone screen

Streams everything on your phone screen. App only, since a browser cannot capture the whole device.

See sharing your phone screen.

Screen share and webinar

Screen share sends a browser tab, a window or your whole screen from the panel. Webinar does the same but overlays your camera on top.

Both are desktop-browser only — a phone cannot capture another app's screen from a browser tab. See webinar mode.

YouTube URL

Restreams a public YouTube video or live URL to your own destinations. Availability depends on your plan.

Supported video formats

For the Media file input, we accept:

MP4 MOV MKV AVI WebM

The file must contain a video stream — audio-only files and images are rejected at upload. Each file can be up to 5 GB, and your plan's storage limit applies to the total.

MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio gives the fastest start and the most reliable playback.
