Your first stream

From an empty dashboard to a live broadcast. Roughly five minutes.

1. Create a channel​

Create a channel from the Dashboard ("Create Channel"), pick its input source, and connect at least one destination in the channel's Platforms tab (YouTube, Twitch or Facebook via "Connect", or a custom RTMP destination with your own URL and key). Then press Start (media file, YouTube URL or custom RTMP channels) or Go Live (camera and screen share). The card shows "Connecting to platforms…" for a few seconds and switches to LIVE once your destinations confirm the connection.

2. Choose an input source​

A channel's input is where the video comes from. The quickest way to test is a media file you have already uploaded, or your camera.

3. Connect a destination​

Go to Platforms (or the channel's Platforms tab) and press Connect on the platform. You are sent to the platform's own login to authorise Rexstream, then returned. For Facebook, choose which Page to stream to after connecting. Expired connections show "Expired": press Reconnect. YouTube requires that live streaming is enabled on your YouTube channel.

4. Go live​

Press Go Live on the channel. The status moves through Starting to Live, and each destination shows its own connection state.

Your camera reaches our server first, then the server starts the encoder that pushes to YouTube, Twitch or Facebook. That takes a few seconds. The LIVE badge and the timer only start once at least one platform confirms the connection, so when you see LIVE your viewers can really see you.

What if nothing happens?

The channel is armed and the server is waiting for video to arrive. For custom RTMP it is waiting for your encoder to connect with the stream key; for camera channels it is waiting for the Go Live window or the mobile app to connect. Nothing is sent to your platforms until video arrives. Press Cancel on the card to disarm it.
